Seyi Ajibade
Seyi is a Ph.D. student in Ethnomusicology at the University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania). As a scholar, he currently focus his research on African Art Music focusing on Àkójopò’s African Art Music Commissioning Project (AAMCP) and the cross border representation of African music. Seyi holds a master's degree in Education and Piano Performance from Carthage College (Wisconsin) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Lagos (Nigeria). He is an award winning solo pianist and a co-founder/Artistic Director of Chamber Music Nigeria.He is a member of the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) and has presented his work at the Canadian Association of African Studies (Ottawa), SEM South Eastern and Caribbean Chapter (Florida), SEM Southwest Chapter (Colorado)—- presenting on discourses concerning African Art Music, Akojopo’s Commissioning Projects, and issues facing social movements and activism in Nigeria.
